Frequently asked questions

Short answers about how Hudbas works and what you can expect from the platform.

About the platform

What is Hudbas?

Hudbas is a community database of Czech and Slovak music that brings fans, artists and the music scene together in one place.

Users can rate albums, write reviews, create their own lists and follow activity from favourite artists and community members. The platform creates space for discussion, discovering new music and building a personal music profile.

Artist profiles are part of the project too — with news, events, festival appearances and other updates linked to their work.

Our goal is to become a central hub for rating, discovering and supporting the Czech and Slovak music scene — giving quality music more visibility, attention and contact with its audience.

Who is Hudbas for?
For all fans of Czech and Slovak music — from casual listeners to passionate collectors. Also for artists who want their own profile and to be part of the community.
Is Hudbas free?
Core features — browsing the database, rating, and reviews — are free. We plan a premium tier with extended features in the future.

Content and database

What music is here? Only CZ/SK?
We focus primarily on Czech and Slovak artists. We may expand the platform to other markets in the future.
Can I listen to previews on Hudbas?
Yes. Album and track pages include a Spotify player with 30-second previews. Full playback requires an active Spotify account.
What if an album or artist is missing?
You can report it via the add artist form or email us through contact. We update the database continuously and prioritize community requests.

Ratings and reviews

How does album rating work?
You rate albums on a 1–10 scale. The overall score is a weighted community average. Each album also has a Popularity score (community activity) and Activity score (your personal activity). More info at Help / metrics.
Can I change or delete my rating?
Yes, anytime. Log in, find the album, and edit or remove your rating. Changes apply immediately.
Are reviews moderated?
Reviews are subject to community oversight. Inappropriate content can be reported by other users and reviewed by admins. We aim for civil discussion.

Account and community

How do I sign up?
Click Register in the top right corner. Email and password are enough — the process takes less than a minute.
What are Lists?
Custom collections of albums, artists or tracks you can build freely — for example “Best Slovak albums of the 1990s”. You can share lists with others.
I am an artist — can I claim my profile?
Artist profile verification is planned. Contact us via contact and we will add you to the queue — verified artists will be the first to know when this feature launches.
