Not sure how much of a surprise drop this was, but I wasn’t aware of a new collab project between Yung Lean and Bladee, so it surely surprised me when I opened AM this morning and saw it.
When I heard Coda, I knew right away that I was in for something different and more experimental, what didn’t surprise me at all, given Leandoer and Bladee’s past as music innovators.
Which kinda reminds me of Crest for that reason (not in terms of sound though). Soundwise, it’s very similar to some of the stuff Lean was doing under the “jonatan leandoer96” alias, being the more psychedelic, alt / pop / rock music, but more polished and refined in my opinion.
I really love the experimentation here and how great the results turned out to be. I don’t expect every Yung Lean and Bladee fan to connect with it, but it’s sure one of their strongest projects ever to me. Some really beautiful instrumentation and production on here.
Really really cool stuff.
